What I’m Hearin’…

Soooooo….I admit it!  Maybe I’m killing the Beyonce’ thing.  But, I’m really loving her new releases.  I’m not even a super big Beyonce’ fan but the old school New Edition-esque vibe in this song and video and had me playing it on repeat lately!  Please enjoy Ms. Beyonce’ Knowles with “Love on Top” from 4.

What I’m Lovin’…

Hiya guys!  I want to share with you all something I’m definitely lovin’ this week!  In my blogging journey, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some very wonderful and interesting people!  I’d like to introduce you to a couple of them!

Meet Regis Lawson

“Regis Lawson has photographed International fashion, products, fine art and cityscapes, eternalizing moments in time for over ten years. Through his camera lens Regis is able to liberate his mind’s eye, unfolding the ever-changing face of beauty, fashion and artistic direction. His commitment to every frame often requires the patience to wait for just the right light, and to be prepared to shoot on a moment’s notice when it arrives. It’s his keenness in the moment that gives each image emotion and relevance. The resulting images allow the viewer to revel in the beauty of creativity and witness a photographer’s spectacular ascension to greatness.”

Meet Dominique Rene

I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely fashionista through a Swapnista event that I recently attended.  If you guys got a chance to view my photos of the event, she’s the one wearing those gorgeous black & white polka dot palazzo pants!  Dominique recently featured me in her “Simon Says Style File: Daytime Sequin”.

“Lipstick Manual is a journal which thrives on creativity through avenues of fashion, make-up, hair, photography and interior design. Loving life and sharing her story Lipstick Diva writes notes and blog posts about her daily muses whether they be relationships, life queries, travel, fitness or celebrity.”

What I’m Wearin’…

A couple of weekends ago, I had the pleasure of attending an event that my mother organized.  The annual Western Ball where all of the local chapters of various sororities, fraternities, and different civic organizations come together for a night of fun and dancing!  Check out what I wore!

Everyone usually wears the typical cowboy boots, hats and jeans.  However, I wanted to do something a little different.  What would the old Western times be without the influence of Native Americans?  I certainly didn’t want to just dress up like I was wearing a costume but I did want to go to the ball as myself embracing Native American fashion and culture.  So, I wore my beads, feathers and prints.  I had a lot of fun too!  Hope it inspires (and doesn’t offend!)  Smile

Check out the fam!

And my accessories…

Even my Twist Out turned out pretty good!

What I’m Hearin’…

Okay, so I’m not hearing the best things about this video!  I’m not even a huge Beyonce’ fan but I love it.  The pop culture and art in the video are really neat, plus who DON’T love Boyz II Men’s “Uhh Ahh”!?!   I know she gets a lot of criticism for um…er…. “borrowing” from other creative artists but I actually think that imitation is the greatest form of flattery.  I just wished she would say where she is getting her inspiration from BEFORE she releases a video.  LOL

Anyway, please enjoy Beyonce’s newest video, “Countdown”

Here is a video of the choreographer’s that she was um…. “inspired by”.  LOL

What I’m Lovin’…

Guess what guys?!!  The All Black Party is here again!

blak1

Remember my photos from the All White Party earlier this year?  The party photographed so nicely and the party was a lot of fun!

Check out the All White Affair album on Facebook by clicking here!

I’m attending the All Black Affair this year and I’m super excited because as you guys know, I’ve upgraded my “point and click” to a DSLR so I know the photos are going to be awesome!  I’ve got to start working on my outfit soon!  Any suggestions?!?

I’m considering…

My Black sequins skirt that I got from Avenue that I was supposed to wear around the holidays.  But, what else?!?  What would you pair with it for an all black affair?  Help me out fellow fashionistas!!!

Something Else I’m Lovin’…

I’m super excited about this one guys!  I have always love the chic, sophisticated style of The Limited but they never carried plus sizes until NOW!  Fashion bloggers, and industry insiders are raving about The Limited’s new plus line named Eloquii.  The online store, available late October, will feature a range of fashion apparel and accessories for plus-size women such as dresses, suits, outerwear, pants, tops, shirts and accessories.  The video below states that The Limited listened to requests from women who met with the CEO and voiced their desire to shop in the same stores as their straight sized friends!

I’m lovin’ this because it shows that retailers are finally listening to their customers. And as if that weren’t enough, The Limited has also teamed up with fashion bloggers Gagi Gregg of Gabifresh, Nicolette Mason of Nicolettemason.com to get a perspective on what fashionable plus size women want. Blogging is the voice of the people! I know and follow each of these blogs so I’m sure these ladies won’t let us down!

What I’m Wearin’…
Hey my sweet blogger babies!  I’ve been missing you guys!  I missed a few posts this week because I had a fierce toothache and I’m a total baby when I don’t feel good!  Anyway, I wanted to do a quick post and share with you guys what I wore before the Swapnista event that I participated in recently!  I got to chill out (and by chill out I mean lurk in the hallway and tremble in fear at the thought of having to strut on the runway in front of the Swapnista crowd) in the lobby of the Hilton Suites Atlanta Perimeter with the other bloggers that I featured last week!

What I’m Lovin’…

Guess what guys?  My blogging dreams have come true (at least one of my dreams…LOL)!  I finally shifted gears, joined the “blogger race” and upgraded my camera from a dinky point and shoot to a DSLR!  YAY!!  Some great things have been happening this year and this upgrade is one of them!  Here’s a photo of my new sweetheart, the Canon Rebel T3!

I still have yet to learn about all it can do but I’m having a lot of fun tinkering around with it!  Look forward to more vibrant and “in the moment” pics from The Dumpy Duchess!

What kind of camera are you using, blogger besties?  Did I pick a good one?
