What I’m Tryin’…

Have you all heard of BB cream?  I guess I’ve been out of the loop for a while but I’m just discovering this product that has everyone raving.  I did a little research and this is what I found:

“the cream was initially used to protect skin after laser procedures and surgery, while also providing light coverage.  Introduced to South Korea and Japan in the 1980s, BB cream has been named "the secret of Korean actresses" and has been heavily endorsed by Korean celebrities, which gained it large exposure in these Asian markets.”

Here’s my experience with a BB Cream that I purchased by Maybelline.

The photos below are when I first applied it in the morning before heading to work.

The pics below are when I got off from work about 10 hours later.

What it said it would do:

Be a “Skin Perfector”, “Blurs imperfections, Brightens, Evens skin tone, Soothes, Hydrates, Enhances, Protects with SPF 30, 0% Oils and heavy ingredients, For Instant Skin Now WOW!”

What I wanted it to do:

Be a light alternative to a heavy foundation, give a nice glow as a primer would, be quick to apply, match my skin tone.

What it did do:

It did “even skin tone”, “moisturize”, “brighten”, and give good coverage while remaining light.  However, it has a white glow under flash photography.  I really liked it when I looked in the mirror but when I took my photos, it was disappointing.  But I’m going to give it a few more chances to see if I can tweak it to look better under lights.

Tell me your experiences with this product.  Have you tried BB cream yet?

Bring it by and let me take a look at it. I hate foundation, but I would love to try something that evens my skin tone.

  2. Your skin looks puuurfect! My boss is Korean and she told me that BB cream was huge there! Although now, people have stopped using it because of some kind of deep scarring it causes, but she really doesn't believe that. Its a small country, and sometimes crazy rumors start and spread very easily, lol. But it looks great and I def want to try it.

  6. I love BB creams, but only the ones from Asia because I feel the ones sold here in America are often just tinted moisturizers with the name BB cream slapped onto them. The only problem with Asian BB creams is that the shade selection is awful ): But if you can find one that suits you I highly suggest trying one from either Lioele or Skin79, you'll definitely see and feel the difference.
