Africa Fashion Week Low Country was one event that I was so pleased to find while doing my monthly search for local events. African fashion is something that I always see on Instagram or Facebook or just on the internet period but never really get to see in person. So, I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend this event as media.
During Savannah Restaurant Week 2015, I chose to dine with Little Italy, a sweet Italian Restaurant Located on Wilmington Island. I enjoyed my time spent and even got to learn more about the restaurant through an interview with Chris McGary, the General Manager:
What makes your Italian restaurant different from the other Italian restaurants in Savannah?
"We are authentic in all aspects to our food, we don't cut corners and use only the best products available. The masses and corporate America have brainwashed people into thinking Carrabas, Olive Garden and other chain food is authentic. It is not. We use old traditional family recipes for all of our food."
The month, Savannah celebrated the rich culinary heritage that it has come to be known for. Savannah Restaurant Week was held in tribute to the many fine restaurants and eateries that make dining in Savanah a unique experience. The 10 day celebration features select items from several of Savannah's most popular restaurants that allows you to try an appetizer, entrée and dessert for one low rate of $30.
The 60th Annual Beaufort Water Festival wrapped up this past week after over two months of festivities like a Paddle Battle, Shrimp Boat Tours, several concerts and talent shows. Before all of the fun ended, I was invited to the Low Country Supper held in the Waterfront Park and sponsored by WastePro. Low country boil- the favorite summer meal of the south, was served and even in the rain the attendance was pretty great.
