Shrimp and Grits Festival 2015
Last weekend I scooped up my mom, (my usual riding partner) and headed down to Jekyll Island for the Shrimp & Grits Festival.  So many awesome vendors and restaurants gathered together to offer up some of their best versions of the popular southern meal.

All September was a celebration of pride as we celebrated pride Savannah. As a supporter of the LGBT community I made my rounds throughout events for this community. I knew that all of the 2015 events would definitely be huge celebrations because of the Supreme Court ruling allowing same-sex marriages.  The events did not disappoint!  The kickoff to Savannah Pride was the beautiful All White Garden Party hosted at the Maritime Museum in downtown Savannah.  Take a look at the photos and you'll see that a great time was had by everyone in attendance. I got to meet a lot of great new people and checking out everyone's all white outfits was pretty great too.
The 5 Spot Habersham Village Savannah menu
On one of our many outings to Savannah, mom and I ducked off into the cutest restaurant.  The 5 Spot Neighborhood Kitchen & Bar is located in Habersham Village.  We almost missed this jewel because of my little brat's insistence on going on River Street to eat but I'm glad I put my foot down. :o)
On first sight, this restaurant has a very cool and trendy look to it.  The exposed brick and silver accents make for very interesting surroundings and we found ourselves looking at the artwork/decor more than the menu.  Ultimately we had to be reminded by our friendly waitress to look at the menu so we could order.  Haha!  Mom opted for the Basic Burger with sweet potato fries while I had the pulled pork, mac & cheese and broccoli.  You can see photos of our meal below.  Before leaving, I got a chance to chat with General Manager, Peter Oleniuch.  Check out what he had to say about The 5 Spot.

AquaCurean was such a beautiful event!  The gourmet Seafood Festival was hosted by the Westin in Savannah Georgia and coordinated by Jan Gourley who also coordinates the annual Savannah Food and Wine Festival. Several local restaurants, bars and distilleries were present to offer up some of their best goodies!  Most of the sea creatures that you can imagine made an appearance:  shrimp, lobster, crab, octopus and more...
