I finally tried a Jumpsuit…

This post is my friendly reminder to never count yourself out of participating in certain fashion trends because you feel that they won’t look right on you.  I always told myself that I could NEVER wear a jumpsuit/playsuit because I wasn’t curvy enough in the right places.  I carry weight in my midsection (belly) and even though I wish I were, I’m not exactly comfortable with my VBL- Visible Belly Line.  As usual, I’m a work in progress but I’m not entirely there yet.

I would always see people in their jumpsuits and feel a surge of jealousy because they look so cute!  Even my plus size babes rock them but I still couldn’t make myself try one on.  Especially after an incident when I wore overalls in high school and my cousin said I looked like “Wario”- not even Mario (Super Mario Bros.), but WARIO!  LOL  I decided shortly after that, that I would NEVER wear an outfit like that again.

Luckily for me, I’ve been feeling a big adventurous with my wardrobe here lately.  Tracee Ellis Ross introduced a jumpsuit in her collection last year that was made with a lot of material and had more space in the midsection for a tummy to hide.  I was skeptical but I tried it on and I was pleasantly surprised!  It fit and looked nice.  I’m glad that I talked myself into purchasing it, since the collection is no longer available.  Now I’m not saying that I’m going to run out and buy a ton of jumpsuits now, but I am happy that I found one that worked for me and that I didn’t entirely cut myself off from a particular style because of fear.

What is one fashion trend that you like but you just don’t think it will work for you?
