As you go through life, you’re going to find that there are lots of different occasions that you may need or want to start something new. When you’re on a quest to be a better person, you are going to find that there are a range of projects that you might like to pursue. Maybe it’s a passion project or learning a new hobby? Maybe it's starting a blog or a new business? No matter what it is, you absolutely need to be sure that you’re starting off in the right way and sometimes the biggest obstacle is YOU. Let’s take a look at five steps that you can take when you want to make sure that your project gets off the ground.

1. Do Your Research

The very first thing that you will want to do as you embark on your project, is some research. Whether this is something that you’re doing for a hobby, learning and education, or a business, there will always be research to do. From the right courses to take or classes to join, to market research and finding your audience, you will want to make sure that you start your project out with the right information in your mind.

2. Set Goals

In the beginning stage, you may want to think about putting some goals in place. When it comes to trying to achieve something, you will always find that you are able to keep yourself focused and work out what steps you need to take for success when you have goals in place.  Make sure that your goals are manageable, measurable and include timelines. For example instead of this goal:  I want to be more popular on Instagram, try this one:  I want to grow my instagram to 5,000 followers by December of this year.  This is a small goal that is manageable, it gives a number goal to reach for and also a deadline so you can gauge if you’re meeting your target throughout the year.  For better results you can could break this goal down even further.  If you need a little more help setting goals, try SmartSheet talk through, to set SMART goals in place.  They can then help you to take your project in the right direction.

3. Utilize Experts

Second of all, you may want to think about consulting the right experts for your project. When you look at the right services, such as those that LifeBrite Laboratories offer, you may be able to perfect your project. Maybe you need design experts or checks for compliance? Either way, it’s important for you to find the right experts for the task.

4. Be Authentic

The next thing that you’ll want to do here, is make sure that you’re staying true to yourself and being authentic during this entire process. Because if you’re doing this for you, then you have to make sure that you let your guard down and attempt to learn something new. And if you’re starting a new blog or project, then it’s essential for you to be honest and yourself, so that your audience can connect with you.

5. Just Start

And finally, you just have to make sure that you get started. Sometimes, when you’re excited to start something new, you’ll often find that you want to get it right. And you’ll spend a lot of time trying to make things perfect. This can stop you from actually getting your project off the ground. Perfection can be a dream killer!  So when you know enough, you just have to dive on in and get started.  Done is better than perfect! Although you may not necessarily be a bad person, almost everyone has a couple of things that they can improve. Whether it's their involvement in charity work, the way in which they interact with other people or the advice that they can offer - there are so many ways to be a better person. With that in mind, here are six ideas to help you get started:

- Start Volunteering For A Worthy Cause

While this isn't for everyone, those that do have the time to spare may want to consider volunteering for a worthy cause. Whether it's offering your time once a month, starting a regular weekly shift or helping spread the message at events - the cause you're helping will appreciate what you can offer. To find out all of the possible ways in which you can get involved with charities, you can visit this guide here.

- Give Back To Charity

If you're unable to offer your time to a worthy cause, there is always the opportunity to set up a regular donation. Whether it's donating a percentage of your earnings with every paycheck, donating when you have the available funds or donating whenever you see a fundraiser - every little helps.

It's important to remember that no matter how much you may want to give to charity, you should only donate if you are sure you have the money to spare.

- Host A Fundraising Event

If you want to go the extra mile and raise donations, why not host your very own fundraising event? You will have complete control of which event you want to host, tailoring it to the people you're inviting. This means you can hold a town fete, a charity fun run or a local talent competition. As long as you think your event is likely to raise money, the charity should accept it and be happy to provide you with what you need in order to organize it. For tips and tricks when it comes to hosting a fundraising event, you can visit this site here.

- Think About How You Can Be More Compassionate

Compassion is often a trait a lot of people lack, especially when it comes to caring for others. while you may feel as though you're always looking out for others and putting everyone else's feelings before yours, it is important that you're showing as much compassion as you possibly can. You never know what is going on behind closed doors and often, a little bit of compassion can go a long way. For more information, you can visit www.thehcc.net.

- Share Your Skills With Those In Need

If you have a particular skill that you think people would benefit from, but they may not be able to invest in themselves, why not offer it free to people that meet a certain criteria? Whether it is offering business advice for a couple of hours each month or providing a salon service for those that are out of work and attending interviews - your good deed could help change someone's life forever.

- Look After You

Finally, although it may not seem like it, looking after you can have a huge impact on the way in which you act towards others. Putting yourself first isn't necessarily a bad thing and you will find that you start to have much more respect for those around you.

Are you trying to become a better person and increase the number of things you do for others? What changes can you make to your lifestyle? Let me know in the comments section below.

We have all heard of depression and anxiety. These mental health disorders have been heavily focused upon in the media, and rightfully so, to break down the stigma attached to mental health, asking for help and talking about problems. Another disorder that affects millions of people is PTSD or post traumatic stress disorder. Often triggered by a traumatic event, situation or memory, people who have PTSD can find themselves reliving a stressful and traumatic scenario again and again. This leads to them having flashbacks in the middle of the day, suffering terrible memories triggered by certain noises or smells, panic attacks and nightmares. The memory is all-consuming and leads to sufferers being unable to lead a normal life. If you know somebody with PTSD, how best can you help?

Veterans

Many people who have left the armed forces, whether through injury or retirement suffer from PTSD. For many, this can be a stumbling block in becoming reintegrated into society in a meaningful way. Morphing back into civilian life can become difficult because of thoughts about these traumatic memories are on the front line. If you know a veteran who is suffering, you need to encourage them to find a counselor to talk to. You are not qualified to deal with their mental health problems. While a listening ear can be supportive, professional guidance is needed. Should their PTSD prevent them from finding employment as a civilian, help them fill in a VA form 21-8940 which will explain to the relevant government department their need for increased benefits. As a friend you want to ensure that your friend is on the mend, so call every day and just be there for support.

Don’t Let Them Become Isolated

Having PTSD is a very lonely mental illness. No one fully understands the trauma that they went through so cannot fully understand their condition. While you may never understand why they are suffering, you can help them live in the here and now. When they are enjoying moments of clarity, ensure that you give them a call, invite them out for coffee, or pop around with a pot roast for dinner. Don’t allow them to feel physically alone. Make it clear that you still value their friendship and that they still play an important part in your life. Doing this can help negate their feelings of loneliness, worthlessness and hopelessness.

Refocus

It’s all too easy to suggest getting your friend outdoors, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying some physical activity. This is easier said than done. However, if you can get your pal moving, active and enjoying exercise whether this is a half marathon or a simple walk in the park, you will be helping their endorphins kick in and helping their happy hormones surge. Consider working on a goal together like swimming or taking a daily walk.  Having something else to focus on can alleviate some of the symptoms like flashbacks and panic attacks.

PTSD can be a debilitating condition, but with your help, you can help a friend recover and live life to the fullest once again.

When it comes to achieving the things that you want to do in life, it usually starts with three steps. Dream, believe, achieve. However, most people get stuck on the second part which is believe. Why is this? There are a number of reasons, so if you get stuck when it comes to believing in yourself, keep reading...

Lack Of Motivation

So many people suffer from a lack of motivation, even me at times. It’s not necessarily that they don’t think that they can do it, but sometimes just mustering up the willpower to get up and achieve it can be difficult. This is one of the most dangerous, and yet the most common reason that people don’t achieve the things they want to. It can be a hard thing to not be motivated to get what you want, especially when you know what it is and how you get it.

A lot of the time this is tied to low self-confidence. Sometimes people know they can, and yet they choose not to. But others do not even believe that they can do it, and therefore they are not motivated to try. Believing in yourself is important because that is half the battle. Motivational quotes, books about success stories and other things like this are small ways but still good sources of getting that motivation you need to move onto to step number three.

Mental Health Issues

Mental health issues are another big problem when it comes to believing you can do something. If you suffer from depression or anxiety especially, it can be hard to think you can do something. Suffering from these illnesses is hard enough to live with, especially with the added pressure of simply trying to achieve things. That is why there is help available to you if you are struggling. For example, have you heard of TMS therapy? It is said to help the symptoms of depression, and get you back on your feet so that you can go out and smash your dreams.

You can also seek counselling, or your doctors help if you feel like any of your mental health disorders are stopping you from achieving your greatness. You have to believe to be able to achieve, and there is nothing wrong with having a little help to get you there.

Opportunity Barriers

Finally, some people feel as though there are opportunity barriers that stop them from getting where they want to go. It is easy for people to say “knock them down” or “go around them”, but it doesn’t always feel as though this is possible. It all comes down to believing that you can either go through the barriers or find another way for you to achieve your goals. This is no easy task to do because when you come to an obstacle, it can feel like the end of the world, but if you can find the motivation inside you, you will come up with another way to get there.

I hope that you have found this post helpful to you, and that you can now begin to identify the reasons that you get stuck when it comes to believing.

What are some obstacles that get in the way of you believing in yourself?
