The Self Care Post You NEED To Read

Self care is something that many people put on the back burner, for one reason or another. Some people lead busy lives with busy jobs and social commitments, while other people have families to look after. Some people even have both! Whatever your reasons for neglecting your self care routine, now is the time to get back into it.

Self care is tremendously important. Having the attitude of ‘it’s only me’ isn’t helping anybody! When you’re looking after yourself properly, you’ll feel better, get more done at work and in life in general, and be able to give your absolute best to your family.

With this in mind, let’s talk about some great ways you can get into the self care habit and begin really looking out for number 1 once and for all!

1. Get Back In Touch With Your Body

If you haven’t been exercising, it’s time to start. You don’t have to do anything too crazy or strenuous. Start with something light, like walking, swimming, or yoga. These are great activities that aren't at all taxing on the joints and can still give you a great endorphins boost. Eventually, you can add in some more intense exercise if you want to. Getting your heart rate up even for just 15 minutes can do you the world of good.
2. Work On Changing Your Mindset

If you know you haven’t got a very positive mindset, you should work on it. Having a positive mindset might seem cliche these days, but it can completely change the way you look at yourself and the world. You matter, so start thinking like it. Talk to yourself in your head as you would a friend. Develop an abundance mindset, and practice gratitude every single day. These things alone can help you to change your outlook if you’re consistent with them.

3. Eat More Nutritious Foods
Take more time to cook healthy meals, rather than grabbing an unhealthy snack or pre-prepared meal. Some pre-prepared meals can be ok, but cooking for yourself from scratch can be very soothing and a great act of self care. Incorporate more foods that make you feel alert and strong, especially plenty of leafy greens.

4. Get Plenty Of Water Into Your System Each Day

Start the day off right by downing 1 pint of water as soon as you wake up. Either before or after you brush your teeth. Most people wake up feeling groggy in the morning not because they are tired, but because they are dehydrated. By drinking a pint of water, you’re waking up your system and getting your day off to a great start. You’ll also be far more likely to drink more water. You can try 0 calorie flavored sparkling water by Hint if you don’t like regular water, as it doesn’t contain sugar and other nasty ingredients like other types of sparkling water.
5. Learn How To Say No And Take Some Time Out

Make sure you learn how to say no to things you don’t want to do. It can be tough if you experience ‘fomo’ (the fear of missing out), but there’s a lot of joy to be had in saying no. In fact, many people report feeling ‘jomo’ (joy of missing out) when they finally start saying no to things. Imagine having more time for reading, hobbies, and even just relaxing. When you say no to something you don’t want to do, you’re saying yes to yourself.

6. Practice Staying Present

Staying present in the moment isn’t something that comes naturally to people. We all have numerous things to think about and do in a single day, and this can take us out of the present moment. You can practice staying in it with regular meditation, deep breathing, and similar techniques. Bringing your attention back to what you’re doing isn’t easy, but can be done with practice. Avoid multi-tasking. When you’re doing something, do it with your whole self!

7. Keep A Journal Keeping a journal can help you to spot patterns in the way you are thinking, feeling, and acting. It can give you something awesome to look back on, too. You could even just use bullet points. Write down 5 great things that happened that day, things that made you smile, etc to start with. It’ll make you feel great!

8. Stop Scrolling And Start Sleeping

Stay off your phone before bed. If you struggle to shut yourself off, try reading instead.

9. Try A New Hobby

How about spending time on a new hobby? Do something you’ve always wanted to do, whether that’s painting or dancing!

What is your favorite self-care habit?

Until Next Time...
