Moving is a hard and long process and there are so many things that you do not think about when it comes to it.  I recently helped a friend move and it reminded me about all of the times that I’ve moved and how much I ABSOLUTELY HATE MOVING!  Lol  It inspired me to make this post!  So don’t worry about it- you’ve got this! Here are five things you do not think about when moving:

Your Food
Moving with food is challenging. I mean, do you eat it all before? Do you move it with you? Honestly, this is all about preference. I will say, however, that you should check all of the expiration dates on your bottles, if you are moving your food with you, and if they are dirty, make sure to clean them off so that your new home and fridge does not get dirty.

The Pool Table
I guarantee that you have not thought about moving your pool table yet, but when you do get around to thinking about it, it will seem very overwhelming. Pool tables are not only extremely heavy, but they are pretty delicate, as well. If you are utilizing a moving company, they might not have all of the training and insight that they need when it comes to safely and securing your pool table during the move. This is why I always recommend using Absolute Billiard Services when you are moving with a pool table.

Absolute Billiard Services brings over 17 years of dedicated experience to Georgia, providing services such as pool table moving, pool table installation, pool table recovering, pool table rebumper, pool table disassembly, and more. Absolute Billiard Services is a full-service billiard company focused on providing master-quality work matched with exceptional customer service. They can help you move, recover, assemble, disassemble, calibrate, and repair all makes and models of pool tables, including antiques.

The reason why it is so important to hire a knowledgeable pool table moving company, such as Absolute Billiard Services is because most pool table movers (and non-pool table movers) do not carry Cargo Insurance, or Inland Marine Insurance. This is something that Absolute Billiard Services does carry and they believe it is very important. Why? Because this is the insurance that covers your pool table when it is being transported as cargo. If someone slams into them at a red light, which destroys the truck and your table, you are covered.

Absolute Billiard Services says, “With over 17 years of moves behind us, we’ve seen virtually every type of billiard table out there, so feel free to inquire about our experience servicing antique and custom pool tables. The owner takes pride in inspecting every table during each step of its reassembly, ensuring your pool table is properly calibrated for tournament-quality play. Operating from the North Georgia area, we regularly service all of Atlanta and into the areas of South Georgia, Macon/LaGrange, and Athens. All pool tables are tournament leveled with a machinist level (ABSOLUTELY the most accurate method, period.)”

The Little Things
When I think about moving, I think about moving the big stuff: beds, couches, tables, washer/dryer, etc. It is only once I start moving that I realize how many little things I have (cleaning supplies, knick knacks, candles, the contents of the junk drawer). It is the little stuff that turns packing from a short and easy process into a long and dreaded process. A tip for maximizing your time here is to organize your belongings. For example, have one box of all of your candles, one box of all of your cleaning supplies, one for all the knick-knacks, and so on. Another tip that some don’t like: get rid of the things you don’t use! Decluttering can make you feel more organized and make your life easier when moving. Another little thing that people often forget is the need to change your address on things such as credit cards, financial information, mail forwarding or subscription services, and all other places that require use of your address. This can be a time-consuming process, so get started as early as you can!

Finding Time
Moving takes much more time than you usually expect! So much goes into it: taking things down/apart, organizing, getting moving materials, packing, transporting packed items, unpacking, etc. Many of us work all day, and the only time we might have to accomplish all of these things is on the weekends. I don’t know about you, but that’s not exactly how I want to spend my only free time! Unfortunately, we have to sacrifice and use the time we have. Remind yourself that it’s an exciting process and you will soon have a new place to call home!

So, you made it. You packed all your things, changed your address on all of your documentation, got all of your things to your new place, and here you are! ...surrounded by boxes. Oftentimes when I move, I forget that unpacking is part of the process too. Decorating a new place and making it feel like home is a process that you can’t rush. Remember that it will get there eventually. Unpack as you go, or try to tackle one room at a time to reduce the overwhelming feeling of organizing all of your belongings. What are your favorite moving tips?

Until Next Time...
