While we all wished that life were filled with happiness and fluffy unicorns, things can sometimes take a turn for the worse. A traumatic experience, whether it’s caused by a problematic relationship, sudden shock, or by the prolonged exposure to pressure, can leave you shattered in a million pieces. Rebuilding yourself as a whole person when you feel betrayed by life or by people is a long and painful journey. Identifying the trauma and acknowledging it is the beginning of the journey. However, you will have to work hard to be able to stand strong again. For anybody going through an emotional transformation, it’s essential to understand what awaits you. The truth is that you won’t be able to go back to your old self overnight. You will be a new person, stronger and more self-aware than you’ve ever been. 

It’s a long and painful journey
Acknowledging your trauma and how it’s affecting you can be challenging. Indeed, a lot of people develop coping mechanisms as they experience difficulties, which can give them the impression that the trauma is gone. However, when your coping mechanism turns into a routine, you know that you need to face your emotions to be able to move forward. Finding a dedicated community to support you, such as sober living for women to help them to quit drinking, can give you the key to look inward and acknowledge your issues. The empathic atmosphere within the community is a safe place to discuss and understand your trauma. 

It’s a path of self-discovery
Healing from trauma is an introspective adventure, during which you can use therapy counseling and meditative activities to create a mindful and relaxed lifestyle. Your trauma is a source of stress and pain. However, you can untangle the knots through talk therapy and meditation until you can detach yourself from the event. Understanding that you are not defined by what happened to you is the first milestone of your recovery journey. But don’t quit your introspection just now! You need to discover your true self to move on. 

It’s an act of courage
Moving forward and restarting your life after you’ve been forced to leave it on standby is the bravest decision you’ll ever take. It takes a lot of courage to move forward. Indeed, however painful your traumatic experience is, it is a known environment. The reason why rebuilding yourself is so hard is that we crave comfort. Your traumatic experience and even your unhealthy coping mechanisms are part of the known world, and, as such, they provide a morbid sense of reassurance. Moving toward the unknown is the bravest thing to do for your mental health. 

Ultimately, the path to recovery takes you out of a dark place to give you the opportunity to be yourself again. Of course, it’s long and arduous. But think of it as a gesture of love to yourself. It’s your promise to yourself. Things will get better. You will stand strong and proud again, and you will make a better life out of it. Rebuilding yourself is an ode to optimism. You don’t mind the hardship and the pain, because, deep inside, you believe that after the rain, the sun will shine again.

You should of course but making a point of caring for all of the body. But if you are particularly keen to keep yourself out of harm’s way, and to make sure that you are taking good care of your body as well as you can, then you will want to think about what parts of the body might often need a little more attention or care in order to make that happen. As it happens, there are parts of the body which are often abused or neglected, and we are going to focus on some of those in this article. If you can start to take better care of the following parts of the body, you should find that you are much more likely to be able to keep your body in its best condition, which is exactly what you should be aiming for.


Your back is hugely important in general. It keeps you upright, and keeps everything together. If there were to be a huge problem with your spine, then you would know it - the pain would be unbearable - and your life would soon become simply unliveable. Clearly, it is important to make sure that you are taking proper care of your back, so it is definitely something that you are going to want to think about as best as you can. That mostly means ensuring that you keep your posture straight, and that you go to see the back doctor if you find that you are developing pain which persists. As long as you pay close attention to it, you will be able to keep it in good working order without too much trouble.


Most of us allow our eyes to worsen as we get older, but this is not actually an inevitable thing. Most of the time, we make it worse and hasten the process by not looking after them properly. That might include not staring at screens for too long at a time, and ensuring that you are getting plenty of rest in order to keep your eyes from developing any serious problems. You should also visit the optometrist once every two years at least, to make sure that you can keep a close eye on what is happening there. This is going to prove important and vital in keeping your body in tact generally, as eye health is related to other parts of the body more closely than you might think.


In the same way that eye health is related to general health, so too is gum health. You need to make sure that you are taking proper care of your gums if you want to keep your body healthy overall, as with advanced gum disease you make your risk of heart disease and even stroke much higher. To take care of your gums, you should make sure that you are keeping your teeth clean every day, and visiting the dentist regularly, as well as a dental hygienist. That should ensure that you are really taking care of them.
